2 Healthy and Delicious Banana Treats for Your Dog

BananasToday we have a treat, two to be exact, for all you dog people who love to spend some time in the kitchen as well – the recipes for 2 delicious banana treats for your doggy. We have chosen bananas to be the main ingredient of these two treats because as they contain a lot of vitamins and other highly valuable nutrients, they are really good for dogs to eat, occasionally that is.

By the way, dog treats that contain bananas are especially good for dogs while training as bananas are a good source of energy.

1. Banana-Oatmeal Cookies

Banana-oatmeal cookies are really easy to cook and you don’t even need a lot of different ingredients.

What You’ll Need to Cook Your Dog Delicious Banana-Oatmeal Treats:

  • 1 cup of whole-wheat flour
  • 1/2 teaspoons of baking soda
  • 1 egg
  • 2 mashed ripe bananas
  • 3/4 cup of whole oats
  • 1/4 cup of butter

Note that it’s essential to use whole-wheat flour and whole flours as if you’d use regular flour and oats we couldn’t really call it a healthy treat anymore. Also, do not add more than 1/4 cup of butter as butter isn’t really that good for our for-legged friends as well. And most importantly, do not add any chocolate to this recipe as that’s just toxic to dogs.

The Directions:

  1. Mix all the ingredients in a regular size bowl and stir you get a nice even mixture.
  2. Use a tablespoon to portion the mixture and bake the cookies in a preheated oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 15 minutes.

2. Banana-Peanut Butter Biscuits for the Good Dogs

As peanut butter is also good for dogs, this recipe is one way to add some of it into your dog’s diet.

What You’ll Need to Cook Your Dog These Healthy and Yummy Biscuits:

  • 1/2 cup of unsalted peanut butter
  • 1 mashed banana
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup of whole-wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup of wheat germ
  • 1 tbs of honey

The Directions:

  1. Once again mix all the ingredients in a regular sized bowl. Add the whole-wheat flour and the wheat germ the last.
  2. Take the dough out of the bowl and place it on a floured parchment paper. Roll the dough so it’s not more than 1/4 inches thick.
  3. Use a sharp knife to cut out whatever shapes you wish (I bet your dog would appreciate a bone-shaped treat) and bake the biscuits in a preheat oven at 300 degrees Fahrenheit for 25 to 30 minutes.
